I'm grateful to Remco Helbers for sending me this link to The Shape Of Song website. Delving into the site you can see (and hear albeit in dodgy midi) the shapes described by King Crimson's music (along with tons of other artists). I'm not entirely convinced by the shapes but it's worth a few minutes of the day.
